Katakolon today is the second most busy cruise port of Greece, after Piraeus port, according to recent statistics.

Port General overview: Two breakwaters protect an entrance, 250m in width; depths vary from 30m at the entrance to 1.5m in the harbour. Those sections of the port not open to silting have depths to 7.9m for commercial traffic. There is an inner anchorage, deemed safe in most weathers.Traffic figures: Approx 200 vessels visit the port annually. Load Line zone: Summer. Max size: Max safe draft, 6.5m.
The Katakolon Port occupies the north-west part of the Peloponnese. To the west it is washed by the Ionian Sea. On the east side the Alfeios River and its tributary, the Kladeos, stretch out to one of the most significant archaeological sites in Greece.
